Meghan Markle's Security Team Reportedly Has "Concerns" About Her Family

Ever since Meghan Markle's engagement to Prince Harry was announced back in November 2017, her estranged paternal family members have been hungry for the spotlight. Between her father's televised interviews and her half-sister's Twitter rants, the Duchess has dealt with her fair share of family drama over the past year. She's handled the awkward situation with grace, of course, but that doesn't mean her security team isn't taking their behavior seriously.

According to a former royal bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, her security team has concerns that members of Meghan's may attempt to sabotage her at one of her public events. Speaking with the Daily Mail, Wharfe revealed:

"There is no doubt that protecting Meghan is a demanding role. I happen to know there are concerns about her dysfunctional family, for example. The worry is that one or more of them might turn up not at the Palace but on one of her working trips, perhaps with a TV crew in hand to film the confrontation."

Yikes! That would definitely not fly with The Firm aka Buckingham Palace. While the chances of this predicament coming to fruition are pretty slim (hopefully, anyway!), Meghan must feel at ease knowing her security team is preparing for all outcomes.

This news comes on the heels of a report that one of Meghan's current protection officers has resigned, reportedly due to the Duchess feeling restricted. Another source spoke with the Daily Mail about the staff shakeup:

"Unlike someone who has grown up in the Royal Family and has been used to having close protection from an early age, it can be constraining. Even though [Meghan] was a famous actress, she could still do what she wanted in the way of getting around freely...But in her current role she can’t go anywhere without her protection team, and that’s a massive constraining force on an individual like her."

Life isn't always tiaras and ballgowns as a Duchess, apparently. Hopefully, Meghan and Harry are able to find a replacement for the protection officer ASAP, so, they can avoid any potentially dangerous situations for the royal mom-to-be.
